Happy Unemployment To You!

I've got my feet kicked up, a delicious cup of coffee by my side and I'm ready to celebrate today... I've officially been unemployed for a year! (otherwise known as a SAHM, but Cody doesn't think that has enough of a ring to it ;)

Last year I woke up to this little guy:

And today to this big boy!

The theme of generosity has kept coming up to me over the last couple of weeks. Partially because I am praying that the Lord would teach me to be quick to be generous and partially because I am so thankful for His generosity.  I have loved this past year as a SAHM and I would not trade my days for anything. Not only did the Lord answer my prayers to get to stay home with Griff by providing Cody with this ministry position, but I firmly believe He saved me from a pit of bitterness that was slowing taking over me as a working mom. I can imagine the person I might be today if we hadn't made this move over the past year, and I am so thankful that is not who I am.

I won't pretend like every day around here is rainbows and sunshine, but we have far more highs than lows and every day I am grateful for the gift of unemployment. I have many friends I know who are waiting for a child and I want you to know that you are in my prayers. Waiting can be a time of refinement or of bitterness. Despite the fact that I didn't use my waiting as a refinement period, God was still gracious to turn my bitterness into something better. And even if your waiting period has turned into bitterness too, I believe that He will do the same for you to.

  1. 59 days until the end of the school year for me! What a refreshing post from a mom who is glad to be home with her kid! I am in the midst of the bitterness from being a working mom - so awful :( Thanks for reminding me there is a lot to look forward to!
